Couples therapy in Washington · Online Gottman Method couples counseling

Relationships are hard. Even good ones.

If you keep having the same fight, feel more like roommates than partners, or can’t seem to reach each other anymore, that’s not a sign your relationship is broken. It’s a sign you could use some new tools.

I offer online couples therapy for couples anywhere in Washington.

Gottman Method · Level 2 trained

How I work

I’m trained in the Gottman Method through Level 2, a research-based approach built on decades of study into what helps relationships last. We start with the Gottman Connect Assessment to measure your relationship’s strengths and challenges. Then we work on the specific patterns that pull you apart:

01

How you handle conflict

02

How you turn toward each other

03

How you repair after hard moments

You don’t have to be in crisis

Most couples don’t come to therapy in crisis. Many come because they want something better, or before a big step like marriage. That’s exactly the right time to start.

Not sure you want to stay?

Sometimes one partner wants to work on the relationship and the other is leaning out. Discernment counseling is a short-term process for couples in that spot. It helps you get clear about whether to rebuild the relationship, end it, or take more time to decide, without pushing you toward either answer.

All couples are welcome

I work with couples of all backgrounds, including LGBTQ couples. If faith matters to one or both of you, it can be part of our work. Learn more about Christian counseling. If it doesn’t, it won’t be.

Insurance and fees

Insurance usually doesn’t cover couples therapy unless the sessions are part of treating one partner’s diagnosed condition. When it isn’t covered, sessions are private pay at $150, with a sliding fee scale available case by case. See my FAQs for details. If you pay privately, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate.

When couples therapy isn’t the right first step

If there’s violence in your relationship, or either of you feels afraid of the other, couples therapy may not be safe right now. We can talk about that privately during your consultation. You can also reach the National Domestic Violence Hotline any time at 1-800-799-7233.

Getting started

Sessions are online, available anywhere in Washington. I offer a free 15-minute consultation, and I’m glad to speak briefly with either partner first if one of you is unsure.
